Why Meditate?

Meditation means many things, to many people and there are many ways to meditate, influenced by our background, culture, spiritual focus, karma, available time, lifestyle, etc. In the context of healing, in order to work safely, meditation is part of that healing activity, and safe meditation, paramount ~ which means being clear about:

  • Why we are meditating (purpose and intention)
  • Preparation for meditation
  • How we are going to meditate
  • ‘Closing down’.

For me, meditating is not one thing, so I have different meditations for different activities and occasions, but all of them will start from a grounded-balanced space, and end in a grounded-balanced space.

Where I think healers benefit most, is if they identify an approach to meditation that supports their healing, which for example means:

  • Strengthening that connection to their spiritual nature, in a safe way
  • Learning how to mediate between their human and spiritual natures
  • Developing their aura / energetic muscle.

I will add here, that meditating can be very seductive, just like healing can be. So, for example: we can consciously or inadvertently, use meditation to avoid feeling and/or doing things that make us uncomfortable or challenge us. And, I would suggest: it can change a person’s character over time in a healthy way, but also in an unbalanced way. And, this is one of the reasons for identifying ‘why’ we are meditating.

    Love this verbiage re meditating. This is what I am after in my development/growth. Also, that meditation practices can be used to hide/avoid feelings……….I didn’t see that before. So grateful for the message!
